Mike Sugar began learning guitar and bass from favorite albums while growing up in New Orleans. He started writing and recording at the age of 15 and began performing with local rock groups and cover bands at about the same time. Also called Shoogz, The Shoog or just Sugar, he is now residing in California. He has performed and recorded with or engineered and produced many artists and bands including Jambay, Kingfish, J.J. Cale, Taj Mahal, Melvin Seals, Wally Ingram, Mark De Gli Antoni, and Bob Wier. 8/23 - Sugar just returned from a fun filled tour adventure with The Sunshine Brothers on the East Coast. Now back in California finishing new recordings at Sugar Studios. Looking forward to upcoming performances with The Sunshine Brothers in California next month.
